hubcap
Charcoal

Another second-year college drawing assignment. I took a hubcap found in my yard, then set it up against a machine-gun replica my father owned -- as well as an army jacket he owned -- and this was the result. As with the last image, I had to make up some story about the "meaning" of the piece, since the instructor was big on meanings in art work. I think my explanation was about how the automotive industry and the war industry often work together, not always to great effect. I got marked down because the hubcap wasn't exactly perfect looking.
