2nd Mini-Album / Stereo

Epic ESCL 2517 (Labelgate CD2)
Epic ESCL 2680 (CD)

Released March 31, 2004

Produced by Andy Sturmer

Highest Chart Ranking: #62

A somewhat forgotten CD in the Puffy catalogue, it seems. This mini-album is the showcase for several fine Puffy songs, including their then-current single "Sunrise" (the theme from the anime SD Gundam) and two versions of the popular "Teen Titans Theme." Besides those songs, the rest of the album is filled with Andy Sturmer's '60s flavored guitar rock on such songs as "Joining A Fan Club" (a cover of an old Jellyfish song), "Kokoroni Hanao," and "So Long Zero." There's also an odd synth rocker ("Kazemakase Futaritabi") and a gorgeous guitar ballad ("Forever"). Lastly, Ami and Yumi's harmonies are on display all over the place on this record, which is a good thing.

Since this album was rereleased in normal CD format, it's fairly widely avaialable online if you wish to purchase it.

Notes:

  • Ami plays the guitar solo on "So Long Zero".
  • The first Puffy album with no credit (songwriting, performer, producer) for Tamio Okuda anywhere.
  • There are two versions of this CD. The first - catalogue number ESCL 2517 - is not truly a "CD." Rather, it's a "Labelgate CD2," which comes with copy protection installed that renders the disc unplayable on MacIntosh computers and most PCs (the only other Puffy CDs with such copy protection - and "not a true CD" status - are the Limited Edition and the initial regular edition of the Sunrise CD single). The second version - catalogue number ESCL 2680 - is a regular CD.
  • The music videos for "Sunrise," "Joining A Fan Club," and "Teen Titans Theme" are available on Funclips Funclub.
  • The backing track for both versions of "Teen Titans Theme" on this album is mixed slightly differently than all other available versions - most notable is the lack of a lead guitar line in the bridge (the part that starts out "If your heart is black you'd better watch out").
  • "Teen Titans Theme" is reminiscent of the theme song to the TV series "Secret Agent Man."
  • "Joining A Fan Club" is a cover of a song originally done by Jellyfish, Andy Sturmer's old band (available on their second album, Spilt Milk).
  • "So Long Zero" is the same song as "Inivisble Tomorrow," albeit with English lyrics.
  • Puffy's last release through Epic Records in Japan.
